Rain, Rain, Go Away

I can't remember a year that we've had so much rain in July. It's been fantastic for the crops, but enough already. Every time we get a storm, I worry that we'll get the hail that has seemed to go along with some of the storms around here. There are farmers just an hour away from us that have lost their entire crop for the season because of hail. Not fun.

I've been trying to get so many things done this week so that I can take the kids to my mom's trailer tomorrow for a few days. It seems like the week was over in a blink of an eye, and I'm still not really ready to go.
I had a horrible headache all day Sunday and then Monday was spent sort of recovering. Tuesday some much needed grocery shopping was done. I have so much food here all of the time in the way of frozen and pantry items, but the staples were definately depleted.
Wednesday I went for another neck massage and then stupidly went shopping. Any good that was done by the massage was quickly undone by walking around the mall and trying to find something to wear to our niece's wedding next Saturday.
My shopping expedition did shed some light on something for me though. I find that after I've been walking or standing around a lot is when I tend to get my headaches. I think my flip flops are doing me in.
So Thurday, I picked up a pair of Birkenstocks. Not the prettiest footwear around, but they seem to make a difference.
And I got my hair cut and highlighted. Love that beautiful scalp massage she gives. I may move in with her.
Yesterday was sort of a right-off. I got some news I hadn't expected and it sort of threw me.
Now today I need to get this stack of bills paid, laundry done, house cleaned, food ready, scrappy tote packed (most important!) to head out tomorrow. Guess I won't be able to sneak in a nap.

These are a few layouts I did with the July Studio Calico kit. I seem to be in a real distressing phase right now. Love the way it adds so much texture to the page.

And this is my most recent layout. It was one of those that I'd work at for 1/2 hour a day. Just kept going back and adding this and that. I love how it turned out but it's so THICK! It may have to be for display. I think I need to switch over to the American Crafts D Ring albums instead of the post bound. My layouts seem to be getting thicker and thicker as the years go by (not unlike my waist).

Better get back to my chores or I'll be up half the night.
Have a great weekend!
