SCORE!

Try not to be too jealous, but I went to an auction sale yesterday. Now that soccer has finished for the year, I had yesterday free to do as I pleased. I wasn't even out of bed when I called my MIL to see if there were any auction sales going on. We planned on leaving at 9:40am so I went about my business of getting laundry on the go and feeding the chilluns. Got in the shower, did my thing, and as I was drying off, my husband came in to get me to help him drag out a HUGE dead sow. For all of the animal rights activists who insist that loose sow housing is much better for the animal ... I invite you to drag out a sow after it has died from fighting. But I digress. After a heart attack or two (did I mention she was HUGE?), I ran in for yet ANOTHER shower. As I was drying off this time, my son informed me that we were leaving in ten minutes. I never leave the house without make-up or attempting to do something with my hair, but I had an auction sale to go to.
There were a few gems that I wasn't able to procure (vintage Dominos ... ivory faces, black backs, chipped, worn, absolutely beautiful), but for the most part ... I came, I saw, I bid, I won. The thing is at one of these estate auctions, you end up buying a whole box (and sometimes 2 or 3) in a lot to get the one thing you actually want. But at these prices, it's definately worth it.
Some of the things I wanted in a bad way ...
Old, round clothes pins for wrapping trims around. They came in a box absolutely FULL of miscellaneous craft stuff. The kids are gonna have a ball. And the wee craft clothes pins were in there too.

Old Scrabble game so I can use the tiles in projects. This came in a lot of 3 boxes that had some fun things ... big box o' barely used crayons in a collectors tin, a little travel case filled with cards, checkers, etc. still in their packaging ... can't even remember everything.
This Blue Mountain pottery. I have a few pieces and couldn't leave these there.
This came in the same box lot. I have no idea what it's worth, but two people tried to buy it from my MIL when she was carrying the box out. One of the people was an antique dealer who showed her the artist's mark on the bottom. I'll have to do a little research to see if I have a treasure.

Pretty bowls.

Beautiful vintage postcards. I think there were 23 in the bundle, which I got for $5. These were some of my favorites.

Embroidered, scalloped-edges pillow cases. I've been wanting to make some of those pillow case dresses and these are perfect. No, I don't have little girls, but I'll find something to do with them!
In the boxes with the pillow cases, table clothes, fabric, doilies and aprons. These are two of my favorite aprons from the bunch. And no ... I don't wear aprons.
This cute little book was hiding in one of the many, many boxes.
And check out the inside! Treasures everywhere.
I ended up spending $60 total. Which I thought was a lot. Until I got home and started unloading everything. Most of it is still on the back porch because I don't know where to put it all. Some of it will end up going to the second-hand store, because there was a fair bit of junk too. If you send me your address, I'll drop it off on your front lawn!

I'll leave you with a few more of my Scraphoria layouts that I finished up on Friday.

I know its a cheesy title, but once I had it stuck in my head, it wouldn't go anywhere!
And this is what happens when you don't want to waste any of your scraps. For the most part, I just grabbed the stuff that was laying on my table and used it without trimming. It was fun to just let loose for a change!
